Ilaria Geddes is a Researcher at the Department of Architecture at UCY. She holds a B.A.(Hons) in Classical Archaeology from King’s College London, two M.Sc. in GIS and Spatial Analysis in Archaeology, and in Housing Futures from University College London, and a Ph.D. in Architecture form University of Cyprus. She has worked in the private, non-profit and academic sectors, having gained experience of evidence-based practice working as a consultant in urban design in the UK, and was an honorary research assistant at UCL from 2005 to 2010. She is a founder and Co-president of the Cyprus Network of Urban Morphology (CyNUM) and an Editorial Advisor to the journal Cities & Health. Her research interests include urban history, urban theory, the relationship between urban form and society, sustainable mobility in urban planning and the integration of diverse methodologies in urban studies. She is currently undertaking research to construct the evidence-base to inform local planning policies and to develop strategies to address sprawl in Cypriot cities, and takes part in teaching courses on Mediterranean Cities and Research Methodologies. She has participated as a researcher in the International Collaborations project, “SUGAR; Sustainable Urban Governance through Augmented Reality”, funded by RPF, 2019-2020 and in the Erasmus + KA2 project, “EPUM; Emerging Perspective on Urban Morphology: Researching and Learning through Multiple Practices”, 2017-2020.
